Congratulations to everyone at Selborne - Top 1% of schools across England for reading and writing in 2018!

Otters – Year 3/4

What we are learning.....

Otters class have been continuing to practise their mental maths daily - keep practising this at home as it really does make a difference.

Year 3's have been using their knowledge of the times tables to help them divide by 3 and 4 and we will continue with multiplication and division after half term.

Year 4's have been looking at writing mixed number fractions and have been adding fractions to make more than a whole. We will continue looking at fractions after half term starting with subtracting fractions and then finding a fraction of a given number.

In literacy we have been writing instructions and explanations - the children have learnt their instructions need to be very specific other wise they can be misinterpreted. They enjoyed giving me instructions on how to make a sandwich for my lunch.

During many of the parent consultations I discussed the need to continue to hear your child read - please keep this up as it helps with their understanding and pronunciation.  Many of you asked for book recommendations - keep an eye on the website, this will be updated shortly.

Otters Class is a mixed Year 3 and Year 4 Class

Their Class Teacher is Mrs Black

Their Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Hill
